The Blood War is a never-ending conflict waged between the chaotic evil forces of the Abyss and the lawful evil forces of the Nine Hells of Baator, it is one of the longest and most prominent cosmic battles in the popular Dungeons and Dragons role-playing game and has dragged individuals from all manner of realms into it, the event is believed to be deliberately fueled by the neutral evil daemons of Hades.
While countless lives and worlds have fallen due to the Blood War it is also considered a necessary evil of sorts since if either side was to truly declare victory over the other the multiverse would be completely destroyed by demonic invasion or enslaved under the heels of the devil hegemony.
The main site of the majority of battles pertaining this heinous conflict was Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells. Demonic forces sailed the River Styx into that layer and were repelled by diabolical legions that brought reinforcements from the lower layers of the Hells. The fight, however, often did not remain confined to Avernus, as destructive skirmishes emerged anywhere in the multiverse where demons and devils could gain access to.
Another important battlefield of the Blood War was Oinos, the first layer of Hades. Battles occasionally leaked to the deeper layers of Niflheim and Pluton.
At the front, Pazunia was one of the primary battlegrounds. Devils often attempted to conquer the first layer of the Abyss in the hope of conquering the entire plane.
