The Busby Stoop Chair, otherwise known as Busby's Stoop Chair, Busby's Chair, Dead Man's Chair or Stoop Chair, is a supposedly haunted chair from English folklore, and it is the origin of the story itself being from around the 1700s A.D.

According to legend, an 18th century British murderer by the name of Thomas Busby cursed the chair not long before he was executed in North Yorkshire, United Kingdom for the murder of his father-in-law. And ever since that fateful day, the chair itself caused the instant death or misfortune of any who were unfortunate enough to sit upon it. It seemed as though his words did come true.

After many generations of victims falling to fatal accidents, the cursed chair would be sold to the Thirsk Museum where it would ultimately become an attraction, suspended from the wall to the ceiling currently, to prevent any visitors from sitting on it and activating its curse.

Despite the legend of Busby's Stoop Chair being popular among ghost-hunters and paranormal researchers, a historian would later study the said oak furniture and found it to originate from 1840, over 138 years after the death of Thomas Busby himself.
