The Butterfly Miraculous is a magical jewel wielded by the evil villain Hawk Moth and an item featured in the animated series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.

History

The Butterfly Miraculous is connected to the kwami Nooroo and has been worn by many for years. Whenever Nooroo goes inside, it transforms the holder into a moth-themed superhero or supervillain depending on the wearer's desire. It has the power to give any person superpowers and make them loyal to the wearer. It gives the holder the ability to sense positive or negative emotions in order to locate who the exact person is. The wielder can vitalize a butterfly and send it to possess a personal object of the person. The Butterfly Miraculous also has telepathic powers; the holder is able to connect and communicate with the person telepathically through the mind. The wearer offers him or her superpowers; if they accept, they'll transform into super beings. In addition, the holder can control the person's body to an expanse.

The jewel was formerly owned by Hawk Moth who used it for evil. He created super villains in an attempt to capture Ladybug's and Cat Noir's Miraculouses. However, there is a limit. Hawk Moth could only akumatize one villain at a time, and had to wait a certain amount of time before creating another since he corrupted two people on the same day.

The brooch was knocked off by Bug Noire causing Monarch to transform back into Gabriel, but unfortunately it fell into the sewers of the Agreste Mansion crypt.

It was eventually recovered by Cerise as Timetagger knows is the future Hawk Moth.

Powers and Abilities

  • Empathy Sense: The holder can feel positive or negative emotions.
  • Akumatization: It can transform people into heroes or villains.
  • Telepathy: It makes the wearer communicate with the person telepathically through the mind.
  • Control: Hawk Moth can control the person's body.

Weaknesses

  • Only create one champion (except when enhanced by a champion or a Sentimonster with the ability to duplicate Akumas).
  • Can became physicially tired easily (owner).
  • If the akuma's too far out of range the user can't communicate with the person and that the champion will act on their records.
  • Victims can break free through willpower.
  • The victims can break free by breaking, damaging or destroying their object containing the Akuma before being fully akumatized.
