~ Hansel's warning about the Candy House. |
The Candy House, also known as the Gingerbread House, is a huge creepy cottage with its exteriors made of false candy and other seemingly-delicious confectionery treats home to the vicious Candy Witch. It is a location in the 2013 supernatural action-horror dark fantasy movie Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. The house itself is based on the unforgettably infamous gingerbread house from the classical 19th century Germanic fairytale Hansel & Gretel.
It is presumed that the house has been in existence for many years as the Candy Witch herself is old in appearance, so it can be presumed that she has been using the house to lure children for her to secretly feast on their flesh for years.
The outer structure of this house is entirely made out of candy, or at least a material that looks like candy: the entrance of the house appears a simple door but a closer look reveals a pattern of white tiles that make it look like a circular maw, surrounded by strange colored glyphs. On the inside, it has notable features such as a a wood-like cage, an oven, and candles. The interior of the house is old and cave like and filled with cobwebs.
Hansel and Gretel stumble upon the house after being abandoned by their father (without revealing the fact that their biological mother is a Grand White Witch for that truth would put them in more danger than they know) in the woods. They began tasting and eating pieces of the outside structure of the house until the doors open. They enter and are captured by the Candy Witch. Hansel is locked in a cage and forced to eat candy whilst Gretel does the chores. They manage to kill the screaming old witch and escape the house.
Following the death of the Candy Witch, the Candy House fell to ruin and the inside was covered in cobwebs while the outside is now decaying.
After the Grand Black Witch Muriel kills the benevolent White Witch Mina, she is shot and ends up in the house, Hansel and Gretel enter the Candy House where they killed her once and for all before leaving some explosives that destroys the rotten Candy House completely.
