The Chaos Magic is a pure magical energy so powerful that can manipulate, warp, and reconstruct the fabric of existence and reality to the user's very whims, and bring about total destruction to the universe.
The Chaos Magic is so incredibly strong that it was thought to be impossible to exists by even the present-day Sorcerer Supreme of Earth.
Long ago, the demonic Elder God Chthon used Chaos Magic to reign over the planet Earth as the "God of Chaos". However, Earth's mages gathered and ended his reign with a lie: They said "There is no God of Chaos. And there is no Chaos Magic."
Chthon was later sealed within Mount Wundagore, the eventual birthplace of Wanda Maximoff, also known as the "Scarlet Witch". The newborn Wanda was touched by the hand of the degenerate Elder God Chthon, which left her with a fraction of his power that allowed her to control Chaos Energy and alter reality itself beyond recognition.
It was later revealed that he wanted to use Wanda as a "vessel" he could one day possess in order to come back to and reign over earth's dimension, when she was a full-grown adult and reached her full potential.
Under the tutelage of the sorceress Agatha Harkness, Wanda later went on to learn to harness this mystic Chaos Energy as Chaos Magic (without knowing its true name at first) and use it for a variety of effects beyond the simple Hexes which she innately performed with it previously.
