So many souls, so much time!
~ Lady Kronika about the Crown of Kronika.

The Crown of Kronika, also known as Kronika's Crown is a powerful ancient crown belonged to its divine creator Lady Kronika, the Keeper of Time and Architect of History. It made its debut appearance in the 2019 fighting videogame Mortal Kombat 11.

Appearance

This treasure in its full divine semblance is a tiara-like headband with ghost-white and gold design.

History

As with the Hourglass within her care and at her Keep within the "sacred" Isle of Kronika where it was first created alongside the magical Amulet of Kronika, the "holy" crown serves as the great symbol of the cold Kronika's dominion over time and history, and thus arguably has the same powers including the power of Timecraft with the former albeit in superior scale.

The Great Titans

The Titans, Kronika's very own monstrous pantheon of powerful deities.

As its wielder, Kronika, being a member of the obscure race of monstrous immortals known as the Titans who predates and rivals the Elder Gods themselves, this artifact is plausibly very ancient, yet possesses a tremendous magic, arguably more than both the malevolent Lord Shinnok's rubric Amulet and the virtuous Lady Cetrion's namesake Amulet as well as the 5 other Elder Gods' 7 sacred Kamidogu relics.

The forgotten Crown of Kronika is located at the ruins of the soul-stealing sorcerer Shang Tsung's Island in the Lost Sea between Earthrealm and Outworld.

In Aftermath, the Crown of Kronika is revealed to be the very vital part of the Hourglass as opposed to be a mere amplifier; when the newly-immortal Liu Kang destroyed it by mistake when defeating its namesake owner, the young warrior found that he was unable to use the Hourglass without destroying it and all of existence in the process. Traveling back in time to retrieve the Crown became the quest of past Nightwolf, the wind godFujin, and their reluctant ally Shang Tsung, while Fire God Liu Kang stayed behind. After retrieving the Crown and delivering it to the thunder god Raiden, Kronika appeared and revealed that it had was design and created by Shang Tsung, and that he was the only person besides herself who had full knowledge of its power. Despite Shang Tsung's inevitable betrayal in his goal to claim the Crown for himself and remake existence in his image, Liu Kang intervened at the last moment, revealing that he had allowed Shang Tsung to succeed as the hourglass had revealed to him that he was the only one who could successfully wield the Crown against Kronika. In the ensuing final battle, the timeline was fractured into branching paths, each one with an alternate outcome to the battle. In one of theme timelines, Shang Tsung defeated Liu Kang, absorbed his enemy's soul, and created a New Era where he ruled all of the Realms unopposed. In another timeline, Liu Kang emerged victorious, erasing his archenemy from existence and claiming the crown, allowing him to create his New Era.

Quotes

Kronika: Have you wondered why Shang Tsung knows so much about my Crown?
Raiden: Because he did your bidding, gathering souls to fuel it.
Kronika: Shang Tsung is far too modest. The Crown is his design. No one, save me, knows more about its power.
~ Lady Kronika reveals to Lord Raiden that the creator of her namesake Crown is the sorcerer Shang Tsung himself.
