SCP-1025 (aka the Encyclopedia of Diseases) is a Safe-class SCP Object contained in SCP Foundation. It was formerly classified as Keter, but it was later reclassified as Safe for unknown reasons.

Description

SCP-1025 is a book titled The Encyclopedia of Common Disease. It's a book containing details of various diseases that gives the reader whatever disease they read about. In reality, it only makes the observer think that the reader has said disease. SCP-1025 was formerly classified as a Keter-class object due to its potential as a bioweapon capable of destroying all life on Earth. Initially, SCP-1025 was to be kept in an isolated underground vault secured by no fewer than 10 armed guards, to be rotated twice weekly and checked for compromise by infectious agents. However, the Keter classification was revoked and was reclassified as Safe, possible because SCP-1025 only made people think the reader had the disease, making it much easier to control. The Special Containment Procedure was rewritten. Now, SCP-1025 is to be kept in a passcode-secured locker. Further research requires O5 approval.

In SCP - Containment Breach

In SCP - Containment Breach, SCP-1025 can be found adjacent to SCP-714's room. The player must have a card of at least level 3 or higher in order to enter its room. The abilities of SCP-1025 is different in this game and is much more harmful than its original counterpart (depends on which page the protagonist is reading). If the player decides to read SCP-1025, a random page will be selected and the player will receive symptoms of several diseases, but only the Cardiac Arrest would cause the death of the player, while others only displayed symptoms. The symptoms are real in this game instead of being others' imaginary.

There are a number of ways to negate SCP-1025's effects; an upgraded gas mask can negate the effects of lung cancer and the common cold, but not cure them. SCP-500 is capable of curing all symptoms. If the player is wearing SCP-714, then they won't develop any of the symptoms. However, applying the ring after reading the encyclopedia will neither prevent the effects from happening nor cure them.
