This heavily weaponized robotic vehicle called the "Final Weapon", also known as the "Final Fight and the "Final Boss", is a giant mech crafted by the hands of the egomaniacal Dr. Robotnik. It serves as the final boss of in Sonic 3D Blast. It was constructed at Doctor Robotnik's Panic Puppet Zone within the Flicky Island and it is both encountered and destroyed in the industrial factory lair's secret arena by Sonic the Hedgehog after he first successfully gathered the 7 mystical Chaos Emeralds all over the island.

Description

This sinister mobile machinery is a huge light-gray colored egg-shaped robot complete with the mad Dr. Robotnik's iconic mustachioed face including the pointy big pink nose that turns into a flamethrower. It also has big gray floating hands with orange spikes on them, separate from the rest of the body and these are equipped with 3 laser cannons. Its back also contains several missile launchers mounted on it. Its torso also has many small cannons concealed within it that can shoot small gray ball-like bombs. Its missile launchers also allows it to fire destructive missiles. Though not seen very often, the Final Weapon can also hide its head inside its torso to protect itself from damage.

Overview

Dr. Robotnik built the Final Weapon in secret during his hostile takeover of the Flicky Island as well as his ongoing acquisition of the magical Chaos Emeralds for his plan of world domination. He hopes this newest invention would be the most powerful and deadlist of his evil machines that would finally crush Sonic the Hedgehog for good.

Sonic made through the traps and Badniks within the Panic Puppet Zone and reached the core of the mad doctor's mechanical fortress, a secret arena where the Final Weapon emerges and starts attacking its evil designer's enemy is fought (is it a pitch-black void in the original Mega Drive version of the game, whereas it is more of a hidden factory chamber in the game's Saturn/PC releases).

Doctor Robotnik makes his entrance from the bottom of the metallic chamber's depths, and park at the northwestern edge of the grid, just out of reach. His first method of attack will be lasers fired from his mech's fingertips. He will slide his hands along the northwest edge for a couple of seconds, adjusting to Sonic's position, and then open fire. The southwestern hand will fire first, followed by the northeastern hand, and continue to alternate until 6 lasers have been fired. Robotnik will then adjust his hands and fire a second time. After this, Robotnik will move into the grid, exposing himself to attack.

Dr. Robotnik emerges on the northwestern edge and his machine spew forth a trail of flames which chases Sonic. He will then leave and reappear on the northeastern edge to send out a second trail of flames. Luckily, the previous trail of flames disappears when he deploys a new one. Robotnik will appear once more on the northeastern edge and send out a third trail of flames. Immediately after, and upon by being struck by Sonic, Robotnik's Final Weapon will move into the grid. Attack him to move to the next phase.

Sonic must battle on a 2x8 grid for this phase. Dr. Robotnik will deploy two autonomous hands and fly away. One hand will hover over the northwestern half of the grid, and the other will take to the southeastern half. They will attempt to move directly above Sonic in order to crush him. After a "charging up" sound effect plays, the hand closest to Sonic will slam down. After 3 attempts to crush Sonic, the hands will move to the ends of the grid and quickly sweep across. But this final attack can be dodged, and Robotnik will reappear and move into the grid. Attack him to move to the next phase.

Doctor Robotnik's Final Weapon will shoot 6 missiles right into the air but Sonic avoided these missile attacks by seeing the missiles' shadows and kept moving. When all six missiles have fallen and being hit again by Sonic, Robotnik will move into the grid.

This is the most intimidating phase, but also the easiest. Sonic stays in the west corner while Dr. Robotnik's Final Weapon deploys a large quantity of bouncing ball-like projectiles ejecting from the sinister mech's torso. After firing 3 rounds, Robotnik moves into the grid but Sonic seizes the chance and attacked him.

The dastardly madman Doctor Robotnik, with his plans of total domination in shambles, flees upon being defeated when Sonic successfully dismantling his precious Final Weapon as the evil machine battlesuit's explosion began bringing the entire Panic Puppet Zone down while the brave blue hedgehog along with the freed Flicky creatures made their escape through a giant Ring with its interdimensional power of transportation called a Dimension Ring and magically returned to the restored Flicky Island safe and sound.

Trivia
