Imperial Astrofighters are the nimble space fighters used by the Imperial Alliance. They are usually held within Imperial Battlecruisers, which are used to transport them over long distances, before they are deployed for battle. Each Astrofighter is piloted by a single Termoid.

Imperial Astrofighters were used by the Imperial Alliance during their initial assault on Earth and their subsequent attacks on the X-Bomber ship in order to obtain the F-01.
As part of a plan drafted by Captain Carter to destroy the X-Bomber, he had Termoid Soldier 0171 fake stealing an Astrofighter from Commander Makara's Imperial Flagship and fly it towards the X-Bomber, in order to fool the X-Bomber crew into thinking the Termoid had defected so they would let it on board their ship.
