The Necrokinesis

Necrokinesis

Necromancy cogitates around controlling the dead, death, the death-force and/or souls for good (i.e., reviving the departed), evil (in various ways) or neither. They can also convey with the deceased – either by summoning their spirit as an apparition or raising them bodily – for the purpose of divination, imparting the means to foretell events to come, or discover hidden knowledge. There also exists a similar (fictional or otherwise) but different ability to reanimate and influence the dead by by force of the mind alone called "Necrokinesis".

The concept of necromancy itself can be traced from its real-life counterpart where unlike it fiction, mostly centered around contacting the deceased for divination and widely practiced across the world until the Renaissance when it was equated with demonology and got its bad reputation. This of course, mirrored its portrayal in fiction; Villainous necromancers, especially those who have become infamous Dark Lords, abuse this craft to raise the dead from beyond the grave to act as servants and soldiers in grand schemes of conquest: some of the more extreme examples of Necromancers may also seek to exterminate the living and replace them with the "undead" or the "living dead". Some even goes so far attempts to cheat death one way or another with this craft, whether by becoming some form of undead creature (ex. lich) or by bypassing their own ability to die.

But to say Black Magic is an "evil" craft is an overstatement however. Some heroes and other good guys are known to downright practice, of not merely familiarize themselves with, this art for more benevolent and sympathetic reasons, even if it potentially resulted them attained bad reputation in the process regardless whether they have fulfilled most, if not all essential requirements to be entrusted with such craft, including means to counter them. Majorities of heroic necromancers are wise individual who respect the cycle of life and death and encourage the others to do the same, a wisdom stemmed from either indirectly caused or witnessed disasters revolving misuse of this craft. For the same reason, their assistance proved to be valuable in countering the abuse and harm that come from it as well as quelling paranoia and fear towards this infamous craft.
