SCP-212, also known as "The Improver", is a Safe-class object contained at the SCP Foundation. It is a robotic medical device that brutally reconstructs living organisms in a brutal and painful way in an attempt to "improve" victims. In actuality, it often kills subjects. Despite the SCP being a robot, it moves and acts completely on its own. It does not need any source of power to operate, and provides chemicals that are unknown to modern science.
Description[]
SCP-212 is described as a large medical device with three robotic arms. These robotic arms have a very high number of possible attachments, with over five hundred of them being documented. The materials that make up the SCP are standard, being similar to the makeup of other non-anomalous medical devices in the real world. Plastic and steel are the two most prominent materials.
The SCP is only active when any form of living tissue is near it. Once the SCP is within short reach of any living organism, it will quickly and aggressively restrain it and perform unrealistically fast surgeries in order to "improve" the subject. This process does not include the use of anesthetic or pain medication, making the surgeries absolutely excruciating, with most subjects being killed. The death rate of the SCP's surgeries are 47%.
The SCP - through unknown means - is able to create replacement organs and body parts. Some organisms can be changed completely, and there is no discernible pattern in how the SCP delivers "upgrades" to something. When the SCP sutures a subject, it uses a mysterious chemical sealant. It can also replace bone marrow with an unknown type of gel.
Given the excruciating nature of the SCP's operations, it is still possible for a subject to be given "improvements" by it out of choice. Operations done by the SCP that aren't documented to the O5 are threatened with termination.
History[]
The origins of the SCP are unclear, as well as when it came into the Foundation's containment. What is known, is that at least twelve surgeries have been documented by the Foundation, with very few surviving it. Many D-class have been forcefully exposed to the SCP's horrific procedures, only to be terminated if they refuse.
A person that was exposed to SCP-217 (a virus that can change a person's body into a series of metal gears and clockwork) was forced to be operated on by SCP-212. The nature of the operation is completely expunged by the Foundation. This individual was made powerful enough to breach containment, evade some security systems and overpower two armed guards, but was still captured in the end, then terminated.
Subjects[]
People who were exposed to SCP-212, the upgrades they received and current status:
- Agent ████████ - ceramic jaw, bladed teeth, synthetic polymer spine, ribcage and pelvis coated with ceramic, and lungs, eyes and liver replaced. (Active)
- Dr. ████ - ceramic teeth, padded plastic latticework feet, blue gel for bone marrow, heart, eyes, liver and kidneys removed, metal inserted into the brain. (Deceased)
- Agent A.A. - circuitry stuck to his brain integrated into the rest of the brain and body. (Comatose)
- Agent █████ - synthetic sacks for stomach, intestines, liver and kidneys, optic sensor pads for eyes, and eight metallic tentacles for hands. (Active)
- D-█████ - SCP-217 in their body empowered. (Active, later deceased)
- Agent ████ - nanomaterial mesh of thick tubes coated in microscopic barbs for skin, carbon claws for fingers and toes, quadrupedal limbs, a single organ for heart and lungs, digestive system shortened, and ultrasound sensor for left eye. (Active)
- Dr. ████ - one large metallic cilia for both eyes, stumped wrists bound together, crab pincers grafted to the forearms, and teeth removed. (Deceased)
- D-5354 - bioluminescent lobster-like organism created out of his stomach's contents. (Already deceased)
- Mummy of Intef II - decreased mass. (Already deceased)

- MTF Nu-7 officer Harold Goldman - injuries repaired. (Already deceased)
- Plastic skeleton decoration - correction of its anatomy. (Nonliving)
- Plastic mirror - None. (Nonliving)
- SCP-106's victim agent █████ - Replacement of limbs with mechanical ones and replacement of the insides with a core that turned him into a cyborg that fetched 212 future patients. (Reanimated, later dismantled and incinerated)
- Orangutan instance of SCP-049-2 - Additional mechanical limbs and eyes in the underarms and forehead, metallic plage doctor mask, and purple liquid which the creature refused to take. (Reanimated, later deceased)
- Agent Dorlin - scythes for arms. (Active)
- Agent Corinne ████████ - complete restructuring of the musculoskeletal composition of her face and torso. (Active)
- Agent Kramer - unknown augmentations. (Active)
- Researcher Sebastian Hardin - Head and neck replaced with machinery consisting of an upside down egg plated in a carbon steel alloy, an external sensor in place of a nose, a pinhole behind it, a digital brain with an integrated heatsink and a one-way vent, and core processors. (Active)
- Dir. Calvin Bold - a skeletal hand and crystals for eyes. (Active)
- Gnasher - mechanical legs capable of telescoping, an industrial-strength digestive tract protected by polycarbonate, and a tri-pronged snout with rotating stainless steel teeth. (Active)

Trivia[]
- Some of SCP-212's features were reversed-engineered to help in constructing Prof. Kain Pathos Crow's SCP-244-ARC.
- In "Game Day Part 1: Smilers", Junior Researcher David Eskobar sought to deliberately expose himself to SCP-212 in order to be transformed into a powerful cyborg, but after being notified that no anesthetic would be provided he quickly gave up on the idea.
- SCP-212 shares resemblance to SCP-1300, a dentist's chair with retractable mechanical arms equipped with surgical instruments and capable of operating on its own, with the main difference being that SCP-1300 also administers anesthesia to not cause pain, actually heals its patients while not killing them though the patients do feel the modifications done to them as unpleasant.
- Gnasher was designated SCP-212-745, which could mean that around 745 subjects have been exposed to SCP-212, including both those it improved and those it killed. This could make its victims count in the hundreds.
