The SDS Olympus Mons is a vehicle appearing in the videogame Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. It is the flagship of the Settlement Defense Front's orbital fleet, and the largest and most powerful warship ever built.
History[]
Commissioned in secret, the Olympus Mons was a supercarrier commanded by Admiral Salen Kotch of the SDF. It was named after the Martian shield volcano of the same name. The United Nations discovered the ship's existence shortly before the start of their war with the Front, and were shocked at the realisation of its size (927 meters long, 151 high and 275 across). The Olympus was also equipped with an F-SpAr cannon, an extremely powerful weapon capable of annihilating other warships with a single blast.
First appearing during "Black Flag", the Olympus attacked the UNSA's fleet after the destruction of the SDF's attack force. Admiral Kotch broadcast a message to the UNSA from the ship's bridge demanding that they surrender. The Olympus easily bested the UNSA's forces and destroyed nine warships during the battle. Attempts to destroy the Olympus failed due to its thick armor and colossal size, forcing John Alder of the UNSA ship Retribution to ram it with his own ship. Alder and several crewmembers were killed, but they successfully damaged the Olympus badly enough that it was forced to retreat.
During Operation Burn Water, the Olympus arrived over an SDF refuelling station on Titan to attack SCAR Team One. The UNSA soldiers were forced to take cover while the Olympus fired on them and Admiral Kotch again demanded their surrender. Eventually the Retribution arrived and again engaged the Olympus to give the SCAR Team time to complete their mission.
As SCAR Team One returned to the Retribution, the Olympus returned and blocked their fighters from docking long enough that the Retribution was forced to abandon them. Captain Nick Reyes and Petty Officer E3N were thus left trapped in space with limited oxygen due to the Olympus' intervention, although they were rescued. The Olympus itself departed seconds after the UNSA's retreat.
The Olympus Mons later bombarded a civilian outpost on the asteroid Vesta 3, which it knocked out of its orbit and towards the Sun. While the UNSA were preoccupied with rescue attempts the Olympus attacked and destroyed the Tigris, one of the last remaining enemy warships. Tigris captain Maureen Ferran was killed during the assault alongside the entire crew.
Admiral Kotch later captained the Olympus during the SDF's second assault on Geneva. The Olympus entered Earth's airspace and immediately fired on the military headquarters of the UNSA, killing Admiral Fredrick Raines. The Retribution then dropped into the atmosphere next to the Olympus, resulting in a stunning field that disabled the ship's defenses and allowed SCAR Team One to board. The SCARs quickly fought their way through most of the ship's crew and prepared to storm the bridge.
In a last-ditch effort to defeat the UNSA, Admiral Kotch sealed the bridge and activated the ship's self-destruct sequence, intending to kill himself alongside the SCARs rather than allow the Olympus to be captured. This was thwarted when Captain Reyes hacked into a maintenance drone on the bridge and caused it to self-destruct which killed the remaining crew. After Kotch himself was killed the UNSA hijacked the Olympus and piloted it back to the Front's headquarters on Mars to destroy the SDF's remaining fleet.
On arriving at the SDF's shipyard, Reyes used the F-SpAr cannon to obliterate several destroyers that tried to prevent the Olympus from reaching its destination. Unfortunately the ship's weapons were disabled before it could destroy the shipyard due to the SDF boarding the Olympus during a sustained assault. Reyes then attempted to pilot the Olympus and ram the shipyard to destroy it. However, the Retribution was then caught in Mars' gravity field and collided with the Olympus, causing both ships to crash.
Although the Olympus was destroyed, the UNSA salvaged enough weaponry from the wreckage to continue the assault on the shipyard.
