The White Claudia

The drug White Claudia with a book detailing the namesake plant and it properties.

The White Claudia is a plant indigenous to the region where the ghost town of Silent Hill is located and used by the local religious cult known as The Order for its mystical and hallucinogenic properties as it the active ingredient to create PTV distributed by Dr. Michael Kaufmann.

The white flowers may or could be a reference to Morning Glory, a family of flowering plants with hallucinogenic seeds common within Asia and North America. Like White Claudia, Morning Glory is often found near water. The hallucinogenic seeds were used in Native American religious ceremonies.

A sentence in the Silent Hill: Play Novel implies that White Claudia is also used to produce Aglaophotis, although this has never been proven.

Trivia

  • In Silent Hill: Homecoming, at the area where Alex Shepherd wakes at Silent Hill, he is surrounded by plants that fit the description of White Claudia. As he is near water, it is very possible it was indeed the infamous plant. From this, it might also be assumed that, as it was near the docks, that perhaps collectors of PTV were marketing it directly from the docks and given to the tourists as PTV for quick business.
